First Friday Night Concert Series Begins May 6

The First Friday Night Concert Series begins May 6 with the band “Emerald Rose.” With their rousing blend of vocal harmonies, Celtic & world music instrumentation, diverse songwriting, rocking renditions of Irish & Scottish classics, and an energetic performance style, Emerald Rose entertains.

“Fools Gold of Dahlonega” will perform June 3. Their mountain jazz is a unique combination of rock, blues, country and bluegrass. They will be joined by “Ugly Cousin” who plays both age old favorites and well honed originals to incorporate a half dozen genres of music. July 1 features “Barefoot Creek” with an early Grand Ol’ Opry sound and featuring local songbirds Sarrah Ellen McDonald and Tonia Conner who take a hold of a song and make it soar. Also featured on July 1 is the “Buzzard Mountain Boys” playing an amusing selection of Brother Duet and Old-Time music that will warm your heart and take you back to the days of the traveling minstrels, and “Home Grown Revival” singing songs of love, family, and revolution in strong four-part harmonies that reflect their message of meaningful solidarity. The August 5 concert features “Kurt Thomas” whose growing popularity is largely due to his unique voice, his highly entertaining live performances, and the originality of the music he writes. September 2 features the “Remember When Band” with all your favorite songs spanning the generations between 1950 and 1990. The concert series closes on October 7 with “The David Brothers Band” which has become one of the most recognized and respected professional jazz ensembles in the southeastern United States.

The “First Friday Night Concert Series” is produced by the City of Dahlonega’s Better Hometown Program and Downtown Development Authority. All concerts start at 6:30 p.m. Dancing and socializing are encouraged.
