Enjoy the 65 retail & 18 restaurants while downtown!

Known for its gold history, Dahlonega is now golden in other ways. While the gold mines and the historic gold museum are popular day-trip destinations for families, culinary adventures broaden the appeal. Diners enjoy 18 downtown restaurants, and the word is out about the growing premium wine industry. The City’s Public Square, organized around the landmark historic gold museum, is a remarkably quaint and active town center. One hundred shops, restaurants, and other businesses attract more than three hundred thousand visitors each year. Any way you look at it, downtown Dahlonega is a mountain treasure and the gold standard in regional attractions.

In addition to the convenient 275 parking spaces on and surrounding the Public Square, downtown Dahlonega maintains three free parking lots with 140 spaces just a short walk to our most popular destinations. The two free parking lots at the intersection of Meaders Street and Choice Street are conveniently located near the Dahlonega Visitor Center. The third free parking lot is located on Warwick Street between North Chestatee and North Park Streets. Another great option is the parking deck located at North Georgia College & State University available from 5:30pm to 7:30am Monday- Thursday and weekends starting Friday at 5:30pm to Monday at 7:30am. For a $3 per day fee, patrons can enjoy this shady parking deck option year round.
