Long regarded by professional riders such as Lance Armstrong as some of America’s most challenging bicycling this area provides enjoyment for riders of all skills. In 2005 the Georgia General Assembly recognized Dahlonega and Lumpkin County as the foremost bicycling venue in the Southeast and Georgia’s premier sport cycling community.

Whether your idea of cycling is road biking, extreme mountain biking or hybrid cycling Dahlonega has something to offer. From USFS Bull Mountain, extreme course to exciting backcountry roads through the Chattahoochee National Forest off-road bicyclist love Dahlonega. For the touring enthusiast, Dahlonega hosts such events as the Six Gap Century and Three Gap Fifty Bike Ride annually with up to 11,200 feet of vertical climbing. These same courses are enjoyed by thousands of recreational riders spring through fall.

Evening & Weekend: The first parking evening and weekend guests should consider when coming to downtown Dahlonega is the convenient and shady UNG parking deck easily accessible from South Chestatee Street or West Main Street. The deck is available after 5:30 PM M-F, and all day Saturdays and Sundays.

Park & Stay: In close proximity to shops, restaurants, boutique hotels and the Dahlonega- Lumpkin County Welcome Center are the Park & Stay spaces in the North Park Street Parking Lot or the Warwick Street Parking Lot. Patrons wanting to enjoy the charming atmosphere of Historic Downtown Dahlonega all day or multiple days, are encouraged to use these spaces.

Shop & Dine: Short-term shoppers, diners or anyone needing to make a quick pick up from downtown businesses are encouraged to use the conveniently located Shop & Dine spaces (the Shop & Dine spaces are limited to 3-hours, 8 AM – 5 PM, Monday – Friday).

Electric Vehicles: The City of Dahlonega is committed to promoting electric vehicle usage and charging stations. This project is a step forward in supporting sustainability, reducing CO2 emissions and demonstrating to electric vehicle owners that they can visit, commute or run errands around Dahlonega without worrying about running out of power away from home.
