K-12 Public Schools
There is 1 high school (Lumpkin County High School), 1 middle school (Lumpkin County Middle School), and 3 elementary schools (Lumpkin County Elementary School, Long Branch Elementary School, and Blackburn Elementary School).
University of North Georgia
The main campus for the University of North Georgia (UNG) is also in Dahlonega – Lumpkin County. UNG was formed through the consolidation of North Georgia College & State University and Gainesville State College in 2013. Positioned in the fastest-growing region of the state, UNG is one of the state’s largest universities and offers more than 100 programs of study ranging from certificate and associate degrees to professional doctoral programs.
UNG is a leadership institution and is The Military College of Georgia. One of only six Senior Military Colleges in the nation, the Corps of Cadets is the best leadership development program in the country. The Corps of Cadets is a nationally and internationally recognized program of choice for students pursuing careers as leaders in the U.S. Army, government and non-government agencies, and global corporations.
UNG also provides ample opportunities for lifelong learning for Dahlonega – Lumpkin County adults through a full menu of continuing education classes including traditional and online professional development courses, computer skills classes and trade certification.
